This age that we are living in can be tough to deal with at times. We see perfection every time we turn on our phone, people who have more than we do, more followers, more likes, more shine. Sometimes, it’s hard not to ask ourselves why we aren’t that good looking or why we don’t have as much recognition or stuff as other people. These thoughts have the power to consume us unless we take a step back and analyze them.
Comparison doesn’t even have to apply to silly social media. It can apply to your current job and the possibility that someone is getting paid more than you. In every aspect of our life, the reality is that there will always be someone with more than us.
If we keep paying attention to what others have rather than being thankful for what we’ve got, we will lose. We will lose because we are too concerned about someone else’s life rather than focusing on our own. Like I said, it can be hard. I completely get it because we all fall into the trap of comparisons at one point or another. It’s easier to pay attention to other people than to take the time to figure out why we are feeling the way we are or better ourselves.
It’s important to remember that everyone moves at different paces. We advance and succeed at different rates; and there’s always a reason behind why things happen the way they do. There isn’t an explanation why, but we have to believe that it’s being taken care of. Things are being taken care of as long as we continue to put in WORK! Make no mistake that if you work your ass off you will win in the long run.
The point is that other people will benefit off of our weaknesses if we let them.
Did anyone watch the Olympics this summer? If you didn’t, I’m sure you’ve seen this picture floating around the internet
In short, the guy looking over lost because he was too busy paying attention to the person next to him.
Don’t be that guy (or girl).
We are all different and need to have confidence that our time will come. It might take a while, but it’ll happen if we continue to better ourselves at our craft and as human beings.
No, I’m not aiming to be a motivational speaker lol. But, I write these for all of you and as a reminder for myself as well. We all need to hear some wise words every once in a while.
Happy Monday, everyone!
