The “IT” Shoe Of The Summer: We’re Talking Espadrilles!

The “IT” Shoe Of The Summer: We’re Talking Espadrilles!

Today’s Wednesday…right? I’ve been absolutely losing my mind with my f*ucked up sleeping schedule. Just imagine when you’ve had a routine of hitting the sack at 8:30/9 pm since you were, like, born. Now imagine yourself -for some unknown reason- starting to go to bed at 1 am. Maybe that’s (probably) why I’ve been feeling as if the day’s are getting a LOT shorter (since now I’m waking up later). Routines are goooood, and don’t hate me for it, but getting an amazing 8 hours of sleep does the mind and body a whole lotta good. No one want’s that extra baggage, aka under eye bags. Nooo thank you!

This is a little off topic, just like my life right now…

Which brings me to my neexxtt point of off topic-ness, I just got sidetracked -while trying to write this post- with looking at Amazon’s Interesting Finds page. Talk about making you want a bunch of shit you don’t need. Now I’m considering a set of miniature cactus candles, a Pusheen birthday edition plush set, and an essential oil diffuser (which I really do actually need). Give it all to me, pllzzz!

Okay, moving on…

TODAY, we’re talking espadrilles!

What’s an espadrille, you ask?

Well, the best way to explain it is any shoe with that brown/tan rope looking sole? Can you paint that picture in your head? Here’s the official definition:

“a light canvas shoe with a plaited fiber sole.”

Despite our lack of knowledge of “plaited fibers”, the only thing you need to know is that you NEED a pair of espadrilles! There’s a chance you’ve been seeing them around and didn’t even know they were espadrilles but you wanted some. I’ve been itching for a pair since I saw the famous Stuart Weitzman Sohojute wedges (seen below).

With the pretty price tag of (currently) $254 dollars, I had to skip out on these. Luckily, for those of us that don’t wanna invest all in one pair, there are several other dupes. BUT, we’re not just talking wedges today! Espadrilles come in all styles. If you’re more of the sneaker, sandal, slip-on…if you’re a shoe person, there’s an espadrille for you!

The Wedge

It’s only obvious I’d start with the espadrille wedge. Oddly enough, wedges haven’t been a “thing” for around four years. At least that’s when I stopped wearing them, but they’re back and seriously, thinking about these shoes makes me sooo happyyy. Especially because I got my hands on the perfect dupe at the perfect price. They’re the Steve Madden Jaylen Wedge, which I’ve linked down below along with some other great dupes for the Stuart Weitzman espadrille wedge!

The Sneaker

This my second favorite after the wedge! I’ve been loving sneakers lately because they bring a casual vibe to any outfit. A while back on my Instagram, I wore a two piece pant set to a wedding with a pair of lace-up heels (photo here). For an everyday look and to give it more of a street style vibe, a sneaker would be perfect! I love an espadrille sneaker especially because most of them are platforms; but, they also really stand out in comparison to a plain white sneaker. Below are a few of my faves!

The Sandal

You can do no wrong in an espadrille sandal for summer! I could have made a never ending list of these because they’re all SO cute. They go from simple to strap-up and lace-up. You’ll see why I’m obsessed!

Before I go on for days and bore you to death about espadrilles, I’ll stop here. Try them and fall in love with the shoe of the Summer! I know I’ll be ordering another pair soon. What’s your favorite style? Love ’em or hate ’em? I wanna know!

Thanks for stopping by♥

Totally! I ran across the SW ones at my local nordstrom rack and they truly are to die for. The quality is amazing and you can tell it’s a shoe that’s gonna last, so it’d probably be a good investment. I like the Kenneth Cole’s though! I bet they’ll go on sale at some point, too, esp. at Macy’s since they always have some sale going on. You’ll looovvvveee them!

      Thanks for reading, Jess!
