Welcome, everyone, to my first outfit post! As you can see, I’m not a super accessorized and overly complex dresser. Like many of you, I’m a throw on a plain tee and go kinda girl (or I just need a quick outfit to throw on because the bakery closes at 2 and it’s 1:30 and I’ve gotta go get some cake?). I’m actually surprised that I even wore shorts because shaving my legs is just waaayyy too time consuming! Are you with me, ladies? No? Just me?
Well anyway…for me, I always feel like less is more. I think that a lot of women feel that they need to overdo it with the big chunky necklaces, 3 rings on each finger (on both hands), and an arm full of bangles. I mean, you can do as you please, but I just want you to know that a weight will be lifted off of you (literally) if you keep it simple.
So, for this outfit, I’m wearing one of my favorite black v-neck t-shirts. I didn’t get a closeup, but its actually got a ribbed texture to it. I purchased this one from Forever21 a while back and it’s still holding up. I bought it a size larger than my normal size because I like the oversized look on my small frame. The fit is a bit straight which I also enjoy. I don’t really care for those hour glass figure shirts since…I don’t have one!I can’t express how much I love plain v-neck t-shirts, but I can tell you that I’m always on the hunt for them! I’m super picky about material and fit, so when I find some that I like, I load up on them in all of the neutral colors!
My shorts were actually my mom’s from when she was my age. You know what that means!? They are vintage Levi 501s (sorry mom for technically calling you vintage). They were pants, but she cut them and used sand paper for the distressing. I don’t think anyone can go wrong with a pair of these bad boys if you can get your hands on some. I’d recommend going to a thrift store (NOT A VINTAGE STORE) to try and find yourself some. The reason you don’t want to go to a vintage store is because you’ll end up paying $60 dollars since they know people are dying to get their hands on them. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to have a mom who hoarded all of her clothes from when she was younger and she’s still got a pair! Lol
My shoes are one of my favorite pairs of suede Harley ankle booties that I purchased on Amazon and they are the brand Circus by Sam Edelman. They were on sale but they are very good quality and even if they weren’t discounted, they are worth the investment. The gold hardware is also a nice touch and really elevates the basic black bootie and any simple outfit. Even though it might be hot during the summer, booties are still a staple piece in my wardrobe.
Normally, I don’t really have the time to throw on a necklace or a watch. Heck, sometimes I don’t even remember to put on makeup (I always remember). But, today I was feeling a little adventurous and decided to make myself a choker. I’ve been wanting to look for some but I’m just a little too lazy to go to the mall at the moment, so instead I searched my room for the next best thing. I found this thinly braided, pleather belt thats probably a few feet long and wrapped it around my neck. I tucked the belt ends under what I’d wrapped around so they wouldn’t stick out and there you have it, a choker! I’ll admit that I was a bit sweaty, but in the name of fashion, I say!
Last, but not least, my sunnies and my favorite part of any outfit I wear. Anyone who knows me, knows that I never leave the house without them! They are essential and signature to who I am. Without them, I feel so plain! These sunglasses are by Ray Ban in the Gold on Gold style RB3547N 51 Oval Flat Lens Mirror Collection. I’d been wanting some rounds since last summer but went with my classic aviators instead. I took a leap by buying these oval gems considering that my face seems a little more round and I thought I’d look ridiculous. However, I can’t get enough of them! I’m obsessed with the gold mirrored lens and they really capture people’s attention! If you haven’t noticed, mirrored sunnies are super in right now but I’ll be wearing them even when it’s passed!
I hope you guys enjoyed my first outfit post and don’t forget to check back for another, soon!
